Riddance" toast over a game of dominos with a few friends.
I have heard from a number of you asking how John is since I haven't
written an update in some time. The last time that I reported, John
was back in the hospital. He got out on Monday before Christmas, in
the afternoon. By Tuesday early morning, he spiked another fever. We
discussed with Dr. Duriex the option of going back to the hospital
but, decided to do another round of antibiotics, at home.
Since then, John is doing much better. Because of his willingness to
eat a bit more and being fed by IV 12 hours per day, he has gain 12
pounds! He began physical therapy today and will continue to do so 3
days per week for the next 5 weeks. We go back to Arrington on the
20th of January for lab work and then to get another PET scan. The
PET scan should tell us whether the surgery removed all of the cancer
from John's esophagus. I don't expect to get the report until January
27th when we meet again with Dr. Figorrea. We expect that John will
be put through another round of chemo. I will let ya'll know about
that.
I want to thank you all that have been in contact with me/us. I thank
you for your thoughts, prayers, support and love. John is taking the
dogs for a walk today and did so yesterday. This is a first for many,
many months. Nash and Peaches are thrilled with this resumed activity.
Love,
Shere
