Today is the anniversary of John's retirement party. Wednesday will
be the anniversary of the diagnosis. What a long ride we have had.
It has been a long time since I have written an update, I just began
to feel a bit uncomfortable about writing so much and John was doing
so well.
It is with a very sad heart that I write this update. John has
battled and claimed victory over the deadly cancer that he has battled
for the past year. That battle has brought him much fatigue and
disappointment from not being able to do the things he has always
loved to do. Several weeks ago, he began to refuse food. He says he
has no appetite and often, the food he did eat, cause nausea. The
doctors have given him meds to fight the nausea and he no longer has
problems with that. He just does not want to eat.
He is very thin. His children and some of his grandchildren came this
weekend to spend some time with him. We have called in Hospice. I
don't know how much longer John will be with us but, he has indicated
to all of us that he does not want to continue. We all have agreed
that it is important that we follow his wishes.
I won't be writing any point by point updates. I thought that many of
you would want to know.
Thank you all for being so concerned and supportive of us through this
year of nightmares. John has been very appreciative of your concern
and you have been my lifelines. Thank you so much.
Love,
Shere
